Memorial Day

We are so thankful for all our soldiers who have given their lives for our freedom and for those who are serving now (especially our favorite soldier Uncle Scott!!)  Raleigh got decked out in her patriotic dress on Sunday for church and then another one on Monday for the Dacula Memorial Day Parade.  They looked adorable on her!!  We've made it a tradition to walk in the parade with our Sunday School class for the past three years (Raleigh only twice outside the belly!) I think she enjoyed the parade, but didn't know what to think of all the people!  She had it easy and was all relaxed while Jason and I walked the whole route...it was great exercise for the day and very humid!  Next year she'll be able to throw the candy out and participate a little more.  Later in the afternoon we went to Grandma and Papa's (her new name for Grandpa that she began calling him on her own) house for a BBQ.  Raleigh was treated to her first taste of sweet tea and her response was so cute...she said "yike it" as soon as she tasted it!  We're raising her right with a love for sweet tea!  Of course Raleigh had so much fun running around on the deck...she loves being outside!  Miss Kitty was great with Raleigh allowing Raleigh to pet her and chase her around.  Raleigh also loves Nore and kept giving Nore her bunny.  We had a great day with family and remembering why we are able to celebrate and have freedom today!

Trying New Foods!

Raleigh has not been a good vegetable or fruit eater since we stopped baby foods.  She loved all her baby foods, but will not even try vegetables (except fried okra) or fruit (except bananas).  I'm not sure why she won't even attempt to put them in her mouth...so frustrating!!  Well, Grandma made squash patties so we thought maybe she would eat them since they're fried and she could hold it easily.  She did try it and made the funniest face ever (they eyes squinted and the typical "yuck" face!)  For some reason she actually tried corn as well and made the same face!  Although she obviously didn't like the squash patties she kept taking small bites.  Even without taking a bite she continued to make the "yuck" face.  We tried to capture her face, but she was too quick for the camera.  Instead we captured a dirty face little girl!

Jewelry Dress Up!!

Raleigh has always had a love for jewelry...she gets it honest from both sides of the family!  Since she was born and could hold onto things she loved to hold my necklace.  Well, thanks to Nana she has a purse full of costume jewelry necklaces.  We put all of them on her and then she wore them and carried her purse around!  She loved it and played with the necklaces for at least 30-40 minutes!  I love having a girl!!

Happy Birthday Robby!

Robby celebrated his 13th birthday on May 15, 2009!  I really can't believe he's a teenager now.  We went to Shoki's with the family to celebrate.  Raleigh loves Robby and Lacy (or to her "Wabby and Yacy")!

Mother's Day

I feel blessed beyond words to be a mother.  I have a beautiful daughter that is so much fun and is the greatest joy to our family!  The best memory of Mother's Day 2009 was when Raleigh looked at me and said Happy Mommy's Day!  It brought tears to my eyes.  I've waited so long to hear that and it was a wonderful feeling!  Jason and I have been blessed with wonderful mothers as well.  They have loved us throughout the years and supported us in all that we do.  We are so grateful for their love!  Although I have no pictures of Raleigh and I together on Mother's Day we have several of her with Grandma and Nana (obviously I was the one behind the camera).  Uncle Todd even snuck in and had a picture with Raleigh since he was dressed up so nice.

Chatty, Chatty!

Today Raleigh picked up the phone and started chatting away!  She walked around just carrying on her own little conversation.  It was so cute that I couldn't resist getting a few pictures...hopefully this doesn't mean she'll be on the phone a lot as a teenager!

Sassy little thing!
