5 Days and Counting!!

Well, it snowed Sunday night into Monday morning.  Here it is Friday and the ground is still covered, but beginning to melt...slowly!  We finally got Raleigh back out to play, build a snowman (once we got below the ice), and throw a few snowballs (or ice).  Lots of fun enjoying the beautiful snow!!

That bite of snow was not so good!

Reminds me of The Mitten by Jan Brett
 We even found an icicle!

Daddy got hit with a snowball!!
That night I told Jason that I needed a picture with Raleigh, so we took one then...
she grabs my neck for a BIG hug and...
then gives me a kiss!!  LOVE HER!!!

It's a Beauty and a Beast!

Snow and ice shut down the city for several days, lots of ice still on the roads, people needing to get back to work, people needing to go home, and us...trying to get to the Fox Theater...it was a BEAST!!  Yes, we left our house at 4:00, picked up Jason's mom in Lawrenceville, and did not park until 6:45!  It was an adventure in itself.  We were about 2 blocks away from the Fox when Raleigh announces that she needs to potty and we're not moving at all.  So she had a first...pottying on the side of the road.  We got her shoes and tights off because we didn't want her to get anything on them, Jason got out to hold her, I climbed over to drive, he held her so she could go, put her back in the car, and I climbed back over so he could drive again...ADVENTURE!!  We finally got her dressed back by the time we parked.  :)  Thanks to all the traffic our dinner plans changed and we quickly grabbed a sandwich at Quizno's on the way in.

Although getting to Atlanta was horrible, the Fox Theater and the showing of Beauty and the Beast was a BEAUTY!!  It was really great and even though our seats were on the next to last row we still had a great view.  Raleigh was so funny.  When it started she pointed up towards the stage and the center and said, "If I was sitting up there I could see Belle."  Love her!  I think she could see fine because I noticed that when Belle would pull at her hair, so would Raleigh!  Too, too cute!
We luckily had our picture taken outside the Fox...the people we asked were pretty rude and didn't want to take our picture, but did it anyway.
Ready for the show to start!  They actually delayed the start 15 minutes so we had a little time to breathe!
During intermission...too bad you can't see the stage behind us.  :(
Leaving...thanks to the nice guy this picture was much easier to have taken!

Snow Day 3!

Since Jason was determined to get out of the house we actually had to put on real clothes!!  I'm not sure if he needed to get out, it was my cooking, or he really wanted Mexican.  Since we had on real clothes I tried to get a sunset picture of Raleigh outside.  It sort of worked...it was extremely cold!

When we went out the ground was frozen a good bit more than it was on Monday.  So...we tried to sled again!  Raleigh made it down our little hill in the front yard to only flip over at the end.  She was not happy about flipping over, but said she enjoyed sliding!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for...

Snow Cream!!!  Since the weather forecasters were saying we were going to get several inches of snow I thought it would be great to make snow cream.  I sat out the bowls when it started...
9:45 pm
 10:07 pm
 10:08 pm
 10:22 pm
 11:16 pm
 11:16 pm
Since we were "cooking" with snow we had to work quickly and I didn't get any pictures before, but I did get Raleigh licking her bowl clean!  I guess it was good!

Snowed In, in 2011!!

We are definitely snowed in here in Georgia!!  The last time I remember everything being shut down like this was in 1993 when we had the "blizzard."  Not sure if this qualifies as a blizzard (or actually if 1993 truly did or not), but when it snows this much in Georgia everything shuts down!  I'm actually glad now that I had Jason buy 2 gallons of milk the other day when he ran to the grocery store.

We're on day 3 of being out of school.  We haven't been out on the roads, but it must be bad because Gwinnett County does NOT close school often!  I remember mama saying when it snowed at Christmas that she talked to Aunt Eva (my great, great aunt who is 100) and she said we'd have snow again because it stayed on the ground for 3 days...I can't imagine what we're going to get next after this one because we still have at least 4 inches on the ground after 3 days!
When the snow first started Sunday night

Within an hour it was already thick

This was taken 1 1/2 hours after it started snowing...4 inches!
 Monday morning...6 inches!

Our poor cat finally found a spot to go potty!  It was quite hilarious to watch him walk in the snow.  Jason was nice enough to make a litter box with some soil we had in the garage so they wouldn't have to leave the garage.
 Ready to play!

Walking in daddy's footprints!
 Snow angels!
Raleigh loved falling down in the snow...her jeans were wet!!
Attempt #1 at sledding with a rubbermaid lid...fail
Attempt #2 in laundry basket...only short distance
Monday evening there was a layer of ice on top of all the snow and in the trees
Attempt #3 trying in our yard with the ice cover...not thick enough and this is what happened
Attempt #4...trash can lid...still didn't work!  Some of us Georgians just don't have the clothing or materials needed for snow!  :)

I have loved this time of having to stay at home!  I'm usually the one in our house that loves to go, but not this time.  Jason says he's getting out of the house today!!
