Happy New Year!

Well, it's 2010! Hard to believe how quickly the year 2009 went by. It was a great year with a lot of firsts for us...walking, talking, climbing, etc. So many memories!

Jason and I had planned to stay in on New Year's Eve but at 9:00 I talked to my parents and my dad really wanted to go to the "Jug Drop" in Winder. So we said sure since Raleigh had taken a 4 and 1/2 hour nap. Yes, it was exactly like it sounded...they tied a jug (decorated with a face) up on the old jail/museum with rope and lowered it at midnight! This has to be the most redneck thing I've ever attended...even more redneck than the 4th of July fireworks in Gratis!! We had a good laugh about it, made history by attending the 1st ever jug drop, and didn't have to fight any traffic to get back home. Raleigh celebrated her first New Year's and made it for the whole thing...she was tired though. She told us she was ready to get back to Grandma and Papa's car and once we put her down at home she didn't move (and slept late so we could as well). Although she didn't show any emotion while it was happening she definitely could tell us about it after she had some sleep. Happy New Year!

  3. No idea on the significance of the jug. My guess is that it has something to do with the moonshine that they would confiscate. There were pictures of it inside the jail/museum.

  5. Ok, my dad clarified why they had the jug drop. Winder use to be called Jug Tavern before the name was changed to Winder.

Nicole I got a Canon 50D. I would love to take lessons!
