We had a really light dusting of snow. This was Blakely's first snow so we had to go out to document it, but we didn't stay out long. We could barely make a snowball!

Snow Day!
Well, the weathermen talked up the weather so much that we had some days off from school and we didn't even have enough snow to cover the ground. Disappointing, yes, but it was definitely nice to have a day at home!

Sleet, Snow, and Birthdays
I will say that this was a memorable birthday for sure! Due to the impending sleet and snow that was expected and a doctor appointment that couldn't be missed Wednesday morning, Jason and I checked into a hotel Tuesday night. The sad part is we missed the snow with Raleigh and Garner, the good part is we had a couple days to relax. I guess I finally got the present I've been asking for... a day to work on things with no interruptions. Problem is I had wanted that day at home. :) I did get some things done, so no complaining. So Jason and I ended up having a birthday vacation stuck in a hotel. Thankfully we were able to get out on Thursday night for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Now we get to extend the celebration and celebrate this weekend too! And to top off the crazy week we had already had, we experienced our first earthquake. The house shook for a few seconds and Jason and I just looked at each other having no clue what it was. Raleigh got out of bed scared because her bed shook. Checked out the news a little later and there was a report of a 4.1 magnitude earthquake in South Carolina. What a week!

Raleigh and Garner had fun...Garner carried on the tradition of bags over his shoes to keep them dry

Snow?? Real Snow??
Yep, we finally had some snow! It's been way too long since we've had snow. Garner is 2 and this was his first snow. The beautiful part of this snow is that it started around lunch time so we were able to watch it fall which is always my favorite part. Not knowing how quickly it was going to stick to the roads, I went to check Raleigh out of school a little early...partially for safety and selfishly so we could play. Garner had some sort of sickness, but we didn't let that stop us. He was all bundled up and we went out for a few minutes to snap some pictures and enjoy the snowfall. Raleigh wanted to eat the snow and tried several different ways. Then she made a snowball to throw at Garner. As soon as Garner saw her throwing snow, he had to try. Raleigh was able to make a ball for him and he loved throwing it. Of course Garner didn't want to come inside and I had to drag him in. :)
While Garner was napping I took Raleigh back out to play a little. The snow was just too powdery to build a snowman. She did make a great snow angel though!
Jason had the day off on Wednesday and we went out to play for a little bit. Garner loved it, but didn't like the cold on his hands and cried when we put gloves on him. Raleigh was still bummed that she couldn't build a snowman and we didn't have a hill large enough to try to sled on. I was sad too because I know she would love sledding. Oh well...one day maybe we'll be able to do it all. She still had fun and it was so cold out that I don't think she minded coming in. :)
